National Institute of Fire and Safety

Sri Suneel Mahanty is the founder and driving force behind NIFS India and the Department of Fire and Industrial Safety at ANU. With qualifications in M.Sc., M.Phil., and MBA (Fire and Industrial Safety Management), he brings decades of industry leadership to fire and safety education in India.

Under his vision, the department was established in September 2025 — creating a pathway for graduates to access the NIFS network of 85+ centres across India and build careers in HSE management, fire consulting, emergency response, and industrial safety leadership.
